![]() ![]() Both actions were used in Gun's Marketed by S&W but the earlier Model 1640 actions are more abundant as stiffer import law's forced S&W to market the model 1500 Japanese rifles made by Howa of Japan, thus cutting their Import ties & Business dealing's with Husqvarna. Later on around 1970 time span the Engineer's at Husqvarna got together and designed a refined version of the 1640 style and that later version is called the model 1900 action. These actions were in House made by Husqvarna and are a scaled down version of the Mauser 98 actions & They are called a small ring action. There were Two actions used on these gun's that were Imported to S&W, the earliest being a Model 1640 action & The Later one being an Improved 1640 action that was known as the Model 1900 action. What you have is a S&W Marketed Imported Husqvarna that S&W Offered from 1967-1973 time span. I was told I would probably never find out how many were actually made. ![]() ![]() I've been doing some digging and was told neither S & W nor Husqvarna kept very good records on these guns. ![]()
